To say it’s “informative” implies that she is sharing new information that hasn’t been regurgitated countless times in the past decade in a more coherent and interesting way by people who know a hell of a lot more about the industry and the games in the aforementioned industry.

Anita cherrypicks the everloving hell out of many games and twists them for her own arguments, but since comments are disabled on the video, nobody can call out her bullshit publicly. No, you don’t get to fucking crack down on Ico when the core gameplay is escorting with action-adventure elements, or cry “DAMSEL IN DISTRESS” whenever a female character is in an unfavorable scenario like in Psychonauts (unfavorable scenario =/= damsel in distress sorry).

Also, who in the literal DICK uses FIGHTING GAMES for “equal gender footing”. She also uses various “bad” endings for violence against women in the middle of the video. They’re BAD ends for a Goddamn reason holy fucking shit many of them basically scream to the player “You blew it. Get good shitlord”, and this is hardly exclusive to females. I’m almost impressed she didn’t use FFVII as an example and completely sever the context of Aerith’s death in relation to the story.  The main reason why so many games use female deaths for male revenge stories is because those games are MARKETED at a MALE audience, but you will NEVER hear her talk about the demographic any of these games are geared towards since it would render many of her examples moot. If it’s SHOOTAN and on the Xbox, it practically announces to the world “we want the dudebro audience”. In all honesty, if the genders were reversed, the titles would then be bitched up for making the female lead a male protagonist with a vagina and not a “true” female lead, but you will never her Anita or any other “gaming journalist” admit it because it contradicts their own arguments.

So yeah. Congrats of being one of the hundreds of people to donated $150K+ for biased, skewered, inaccurate “information” presented by a woman with a monotone voice who talks like someone who spends an average of 6 hours a day on TVTropes.  I hope you don’t end up regretting it when she disassembles and pulls a magic misogynistic rabbit out of her hat when your favorite titles are up on the chopping block and dissected of context to fuel her biases, which she should be trying much harder to prevent considering people have given her ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS PROJECT.
